• Max Bio 9 Years on
    22 February 2013

In 2004 Melbourne Water commissioned work to increase the capacity of the Bunyip Main Drain in Melbournes outer Southern region.
Not undertaking these works would have rendered the properties adjacent to the Southern bank vulnerable to flood events.
The existing capacity had been exceeded 12 times between 1900 and 2000.
Once the reshaping earthworks had been finished it was imperative that the exposed soil be protected to limit the amount of sediment running into the drain.
MaxBio™ was specified due to it superior performance in applications with a water flow of approx 2.5 meters per second.
A piece of the MaxBio™ was exhumed in February this year. The 2 biodegradable layers of the product had biodegraded and disappeared into the soil.
Whereas the polyproperlene scrim was still providing strength to the root structure and has appeared to be in idnetical condition as it was when laid 9 years ago.
So this proves that for a durable long lasting grass establishment mat, MaxBio™ will provide initial seed protection, then years of root & crown support.
